Ever since this book was published, the reviews have been fantastic. Hailed as everything but the next best thing to buttered popcorn, I was a little dubious to say the least. Now, having read the book, I can fully understand the critics enthusiasm.
The subject matter is strange and could have been developed into a purely uncomfortable and melancholy tale. Considering that the young woman narrating the book died violently, under unpleasant circumstances, this "voice from the grave" is surprisingly fresh, vibrant, and dare I say full of life.
If I sound like I loved the book, it's because I did. This, to me, ranks right up there with THE BEAN TREES as one of the books I most want to share with friends and, actually, the whole world. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have.
