REUNION IN DEATH is yet another installment in the "Eve Dallas Mysteries". It doesn't fail to deliver in any of the categories fans have grown to expect, including mystery, science fiction, suspense, or romance. On the whole, it's one of the better of the series thus far. It fits nicely with the others as the story of Eve's life unfolds before the reader. It can also stand alone as a completely satisfying read that doesn't require a total understanding of previous installments to grasp the many facets ofthe characters or situations.

The plot is based on a villain from earlier in Eve's life that has managed to get back into society. The villain is bent on continuing a murderous romp through New York City, and making sure Eve is the target of plenty of bad press. Of course, the ultimate goal is to destroy Eve, or those close to her, and thus cause as much pain and suffering as possible. While the execution of the plan seems to be coming together well, things don't quite work out as the villain hopes. If it did, we wouldn't be able to look forward to the next story in this line from J. D. Robb, aka Nora Roberts.

The story gives us plenty to ponder in it's course. The finish is suspenseful and well connected to the clues and actions described earlier in the work. There's enough romance to keep one's interest, and plenty of mystery to keep you wondering. This installment contains plenty of the now standard staples of descriptions of futuristic life. These keep readers amused and hopeful that the conveniences outlined in the story, set 50 years in the future, are actually available to us sooner rather than later.

Nora Roberts has consistently put forth a stellar effort in this line of books. REUNION IN DEATH deliveres as well or better than most. I'd recomend this book to romance and mystery readers alike. Science fiction readers that like a little suspense may find it a perfect fit as well. Overall, as usual with Nora Roberts or J. D. Robb works, it is highly recommended. This recomendation stands for REUNION IN DEATH by itself, and for the entire series of J. D. Robb books.
