Welcome to the South, Texas that is. It's summer, it's hot, the humidity is rising and the murder rate is matching the temperature. Our hero is a beach bum who after many incarnations is about to become a judge. Go figure. Politics, a past that is tangled at best, and characters that think a zig zag line is straight complicate the plot.
I enjoyed the first half of the book, but the latter part confused me and I never really understood where all the clues came from.
