Thanks for dropping by our web page!

Last Updated 28 October 2003

Molly Marx Brent was just in the store today setting up for the book signing. The dates and times have finally been set as follows:

November 15, 2003 -10AM-11AM, and then again from 2PM-4PM on the same day.

Requests for custom signed copies can be submitted at our web site using the online store, book search submissions, or by calling us here at 228-831-0882 between 10AM and 6PM Central time.

Those that have already ordered copies can expect them to arrive within a week as we will be posting them to the mail in the morning now that Molly has had the chance to sign them.

If you have the chance, please come by and have her sign your copy of her new book. Rainchecks will be available if we sell out. Take the time to meet this wonderful Mississippi author here at the Ridiculous Book Store.

The follwoing is the update from 16 October 2003

The author pages are gaining detail. More info from publishers and images of book covers are being added to most existing pages and new pages are being added on a weekly basis. The first plain text summary lists are up for William W. Johnstone and some others. Have a look and let us know if we left anything out.

New releases will be posted for the rest of the year by the end of the week or so. Look for that in the forums section by date.

The online shopping function is getting slow due to the huge inventory file size. Hopefully, we'll be splitting the file into sections to help load times. Please be patient as our changes are put into place. It will take some time to get the functions working faster while still being accurate.

New reviews have been posted for the month, with more to come shortly. There will also be some info posted on a book signing here at the store for Molly Marx Brent. Her book THERE AIN'T ENOUGH FRONT PORCHES has just been released. As soon as we get her books in and have them signed by the author, we can fill your orders as promised.

The following is the update from 9 September 2003

The pseudonym files are still expanding. More gets posted every week. Please keep sending in your submissions. We use several other sources, but are trying to centraliz the information into our database. The goal is to build the best!

The author pages are being expanded and enhanced even more. Starting with our William W. Johnstone pages, we've started posting release info on each title along with an image of the book cover. All of the listing information (without the pictures) will soon be available for download as a flat text file as well. Collectors will appreciate the lists for reference to the order of release and other information about each series. The entire author section should be updated by the end of the year where information availability allows.

Dozens and dozens of reviews have been added to the reviews section. While we've tried to make searching easier by splitting up the sections, a database lookup function is in the works to make finding a review even faster. We're hoping to get that function ready by early next year or sooner.

The press releases page has helped to give less popular authors a place to post their new works. If you know any new authors looking for promotion, send them to us for a posting. As our listings grow, our visitors will be able to experience new works by new authors they may otherwise miss.

The following is the update from 30 April 2003

More additions to the psuedonym lookup function have been loaded on the server. Even more book reviews have been posted, mostly in the mystery section. The newly posted William W. Johnstone page has had images and ISBN's added for your reference. And finally, a page has been compiled for Louis L'Amour. This page, like the Johnstone page will be updated and expanded as information makes itself available.

Coming in the near future, on top of all the regular updates, you can expect special interest series lisitngs. These will be posted to the site for those that wish to know the order of publication for various series books in both romance and non-romance categories. We decided to do this as a helpful reference for our customers who have requested this information dozens of times. Hopefully, we can send them to these pages rather than having to send the listings over and over. They will be posted soon.

The following is the update from 21 March 2003

The entire database for the psuedonym lookup function has been expanded and reloaded. The database now contains authors from all lines of literature, not just romance. We are continuing to expand and cross check this database, and expect it to be updated at least once more this year with even more names and expanded pseudonym listings.

There is a new "Press Releases" section featuring notices from publishers about newly released works. Some of these are not even available yet, but are worth watching. We have opened this page to any publisher to post to. Hopefully, it can help you find a new and exciting author to follow. We are adding to this new section on a weekly basis.

In the next month, look for upadates to our contests page, contest winners listings, and newly updated catalogs for download.

The following is the update from 12 February 2003

There is new expansion in nearly all areas of the site. More content was requested, so that's what we posted. There are several new author sponsored pages in the "Authors' Corner", as well as extensive additions in the reviews section. Our online databases for inventory, pseudonyms, and other reference services are all expanded or corrected for this month.

The "Reviews" section has been split into separate genres to allow for faster searches and easier visitor sorting of available information. This catagorizing and dividing still allows for global searches, but lets visitors manually scan all listings for a specific type that are available. This was necessary as our database of revies has grown extensively, and will continue to do so.

This "News" section has been expanded to allow for not only standard site news, but for press releases from publishers. We've begun to receive quite a few of them and felt our visitors might find them helpful for learning about new authors and material they might not find out about in any other way. To give this a try, have a look at the "Press Releases" link at the top of this page.

The following is the update from 5 November 2002

We've added a new reviewer and posted several of their new reviews. We hope that this will allow us to greatly expand the number and types of reviews available on our site. The first new post of 10 reviews is already available, along with 12 other reviews that are only about a week old. There should be even more in the next week or two.

New contests and prizes are posted. The winners list has also been updated. Both the winners list and the reviews section will have new sorted pages to help organize our growing content shortly. Look for those before Christmas.

The new releases lists have been posted in the forums. Along with those, we hae two new author pages coming shortly. They should be up in the next week pending author approval. In addition to these colaborative works, we will soon be posting staff contributed author pages for Nora Roberts, William Johnstone, and others. We hope to provide listings and lookup functions for thier many works. By providing this reference, we also hope to collect more information from our visitors that can be posted and linked to these pages. The end result should be a great reference to fans of these very popular authors.

The follwoing is the update from 4 September 2002

The Pseudonym databases have been updated. We have several more updates and additions to make to that function. However, due to increased demand, we felt that a quick update would be a good idea rather than waiting until all the data entry was done. Please let us know via e-mail of any pseudonyms you know of that you don't find listed. We'll verify them and add them in the next update. That update will include more non-romance authors and should provide service to a broader spectrum of readers. We are constantly working to increase the size and verify the accuracy of this function. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

The online store has also been updated, and the catalog files will be renewed shortly as well. This is part of our ongoing effort to provide timely updates to our available listings of stock. Even with this, shoppers should be aware that we cannot list all available items. If you can't find what you are after, please submit a book search. We might just have a copy put back somewhere.

The following is the update from 12 August 2002

We have doubled the number of feature article links from the home page. Anything new that needs some notice will be placed in the text boxes below our welcome message on the home page. These will be updated as the site changes. With this expansion, about half of them are new items.

Among the new items are a "Customer Service" page with links to all of our major web site functions and services. This page links and explains each part of our stie and makes it easier for new visitors to learn where the various functions reside. Let us know via the "Feedback" function if you know of any more addtions you'd like to see here.

The biggest addition is the new "Classifieds" function. Now, free of charge, anyone who wishes to register can post ads for books to buy or sell. Ads take one to two days for approval and then are posted for all visitors to see. Check here for leads on hard to find books from readers just like you! If you are ttrying to clear out that old closet, be sure to post your available books for sale here. Since there's no charge, you've got nothing to loose!

Our contests continue to grow. Look for even more chances to win in the coming months. Coupled with our contests are the new "Special Features" contests. These will usually correspond with a new author page that promotes a new writer that has agreed to help us post a page about them and their work. So far, we've posted two new authors and posted their new works as prizes. Have a look at the new author pages in the "Authors' Corner" and sign up to win in the "Special Features" contests.

The Following Is The Update From 21 June 2002

More feature article links are now on the home page. There is a new box for these items just below the contests listings. We added them as some of our features were being updated before folks knew about the previous ones. So, we added an expansion area to allow some of the postings to stay up a little longer.

One of the items listed in the new features section is about our new "Tell a friend about this page" function. It's a quick easy way to send a friend the link to the page in our site that you are looking at. Right now, only the main pages have the link, but all the pages (including the reviews) will have them soon. That way, you can share our site without having to explain where you were when you found what you were looking for. We hope you enjoy the function.

Also newly added, is the link from the contest images on the front page to the contests page. Some folks had a hard time scrolling down to the text link after the contest descriptions. So, we added the links at the images as well. Hopefully, it will make it even easier to sign up and win!

In addition to the "Tell a friend about this page" function, we are now working to provide a free classified ads function. Currently, the plan is to provide all book lovers with a free place to post wish lists and items for sale. Commercial vendors will also be invited to link here with specific items. Our goal is to allow everyone with a central, non commission based, place to encourage commerce. Keep checking back, the service should be up soon!

The Following Is The Update From 5 April 2002

Our home page has had an overhaul! New graphics and layout patterns are in place. We hope this brings more content to everyone up front, and makes it easier to find what you are after. There will be some color changes and smaller adjustments made in the next few weeks. Hopefully, our new look will please everyone!

The contests page has been a big success. We'll be continuing that function, and sponsoring some more contests elsewhere. You can visit some of our contest listings by clicking on the links to the right of the contest page. These new additions are in place to help sweepstakes players find us and other great contests everywhere on the Internet.

We've added lots of new reviews and author pages. This content will continue to expand and be updated as new reviews are received. Improved navigation and search capabilities will be available soon in this area as well. Look for headlines on the home page for notices of the latest updates!

Thanks to everyone who sent in suggestions and opinions about our site. Please continue to let us know what you think we can do to improve and expand our web site! All suggestions are welcome. Just click on the feedback button on the home page!

The Following Is The Update From 11 December 2001:

Our contests page has been getting a lot of traffic lately! We've just posted our first winner and set up another contest to keep the ball rolling. Let your friends know! We hope you enjoy the contest and encourage you to enter every week.

Other recent additions to the site include two new authors who submitted biographical and publishing information about themselves. We have several more that are in the making. We hope to have this section grow a great deal over the coming year. Have a look and let your favorite authors know that we'd love to give them a link.

Also, we have added so many book reviews and comment pages that our reviews page has become confusing. Soon, we will have all of those posted by category so it's easier to find what you are looking for. We should have that ready early next year, along with even more submitted reviews.

In the coming weeks, we hope to be updating a great deal of our content. This, as usual, will be based on visitor suggestions and submissions. Please let us know what you'd like to see.

The Following Is The Update From 16 November 2001:

We are happy to announce that our newly updated format and look are in place.  The changes were made based on user suggestion and an effort on our part to make the interface more friendly and flexible.  We hope you like the changes!

New features include reader submitted reviews and an expanded Authors' Corner section.  Visitors can read short reviews of books and see what other readers have left in the comments section regarding the reviewed book.  Feel free to leave your own comments!

The expanded Authors' Corner now includes submissions by authors that have visited our site or our store and chose to promote their latest works with us.  Soon, we will be adding some more content in this section by adding pages devoted to our favorite authors that haven't visited us yet.

Finally, we have also added a guestbook function from the home page. Please sign the guestbook if you'd like to receive broadcast messages in the future.

The next feature we will be adding is our contests page.  Visitors will be able to sign up for prizes on a weekly and monthly basis, depending on the specific contest.  Check back often for this feature.  We're hoping it will be a crowd pleaser!

The following is the update from 3 October 2001

We are happy to announce that our Psuedonym Lookup Version 2 function is now working!  There are several enhancements in this latest release.  This version now positions your browser at the selected authors' name.  That should make it easier to read.  The listed psuedonyms are now also links that will take you directly to the available stock items listed for that author.  We hope you enjoy having this newly enhanced resource available.

The downloadable catalogs are ready for anyone who wants a complete listing of available titles.  These listings are available for download in the Shopping page.  Customers can order books by phone or E-mail until the Online Ordering functions are ready.

Online ordering is now available! To the left, you'll notice that we've added the VeriSign icon. We have installed the SSL configuration to help provide our customers with added security. Now that this is done, our online ordering system is linked and ready for use. Now, you can count on us for direct access to our database for all of your book purchasing needs! You can shop online, download a catalog and browse, or send us an E-mail with a purchase request. You will even be able to call us directly and set up an account for direct billing. Whatever method suites your needs!

A new Forums function is now working! You can now see constantly updated New Release lists and read both reviews and comments about books in all catagories. The forums will allow you to read what others have to say and to submit your comments or votes concerning books of all kinds. Check it out!
