William W. JohnstoneBiography (Staff Contributed)
William W. Johnstone was born in Southern Missouri in 1938 and is the youngest of four children. His father was a minister and his mother was a schoolteacher. At the age of 15, he quit school and joined a carnival. He returned to finish high school in 1957. Since that time, he has worked as a deputy sheriff, joined the Army for a while, and eventually worked in the radio broadcasting industry for 16 years.
Mr. Johnstone started his writing career in 1970, but didn't get published until 1979. He has now written nearly two hundred books and shows no sign of slowing down. He has been a leading author in men's adventure fiction for more than 25 years. Besides his four long-running adventure series ("Mountain Man," "The First Mountain Man," "Ashes" and "Eagles") he has also written more than a dozen novels in the suspense and horror categories. Currently, he lives in Shreveport, Louisiana. His personal web site has gone inactive, and little upadated information can be found other than the release dates posted by his publishers. As additional information can be found and confirmed, we will be posting it here. We are aware of at least one pseudonym for William W. Johnstone. He has written two books as William Mason.
