Nancy J. CohenBiography (Author Contributed)
Nancy J. Cohen earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Rochester and a master's degree from the University of California in San Francisco. After working as a clinical nurse specialist, she retired to write full-time. She made her debut onto the publishing scene with futuristic romance novels written as Nancy Cane. Her first book, CIRCLE OF LIGHT, won the prestigious HOLT Medallion Award.
PERMED TO DEATH, her fifth published book, was Nancy's debut mystery novel from Kensington Publishing Corp. Her series, the Bad Hair Day Mysteries, features South Florida beauty salon owner and hairstylist Marla Shore. HAIR RAISER, #2 in the series, was nominated by Romantic Times for a Reviewer's Choice Award as Best Amateur Sleuth novel. MURDER BY MANICURE, BODY WAVE, and HIGHLIGHTS TO HEAVEN are subsequent titles. Nancy is listed in Contemporary Authors, Poets & Writers, and Who's Who in U.S. Writers, Editors & Poets. She is an active member of Mystery Writers of America, and served as Secretary for the Florida chapter of MWA for two years. Nancy also belongs to Sisters in Crime, Romance Writers of America, Novelists, Inc., and The Author's Guild. Currently, she is President of Florida Romance Writers. As a featured speaker at conferences, bookstores, libraries, and local community groups, she enjoys meeting readers and booksellers. Additional activities include writing articles for The 3rd Degree, The Kiss of Death, Romance Writers' Report, The Literary Times, Mystery Readers Journal, and Romantic Times. When she is not busy writing, Nancy enjoys dining at local restaurants, regional travel, outlet shopping, and schmoozing with fellow writers. She and her husband live in the Fort Lauderdale area. They are empty-nesters with two children in college. Their miniature poodle, who bears a strong resemblance to Marla's dog Spooks in the Bad Hair Day Mysteries, keeps them entertained.
