The Ridiculous Book Store is a full service new and used bookstore.  We sell and trade both hardbacks and paperbacks in all categories.  There are no quantity limits for trades and no age limits for books.  We offer a book search service for books that are hard to find or out of print.  The Ridiculous Book Store can order new books that are not in stock at no extra charge.  We provide access to specialty catalogs for ordering which include cookbooks, computer, children’s publications, calendars, religious items, and others.  We also carry paperback and hardback advance notices of upcoming books being released within the next month.

Comics from all major publishers are also available through our “Preview” catalog service.  We also carry Leanin’ Tree products, which include greeting cards, keychains, mugs, posters, and collector cards.  We carry classics and Cliffs Notes study guides.  Any out of stock titles can be ordered at no extra charge.

The Ridiculous Book Store issues $5.00 Gift Certificates for your gift giving convenience.  These certificates can be used for the purchase of any item in our store.

There is also a Readers’ Group called Over-Readers Anonymous.  Meetings are held every Tuesday of the month from 6:15 to 7 or later.  We discuss authors, upcoming events and anything to help you find a good book that interests you.
 
 

All used paperback books are half the publisher’s list price unless otherwise marked.  There is a minimum charge of $1.00 per book.

New books & comics are cash only.
New book & comic orders require 10% of the publisher’s list price as a deposit which is counted toward the purchase if the book is picked up within 15 days of notification of arrival.  It is forfeited otherwise and all subsequent orders are by prepayment only.
Book trades are category specific.  However, cross category trades may be made occasionally and are reviewed on an individual basis if the store is in need of stock in a specific category.
Any book presented for trade which is judged to be damaged or substandard will be credited at a rate of 10 cents each.  This trade is usable only in the 5 for $1 area.
All trades are subject to approval.  We reserve the right to deny a trade for any reason.

We became frustrated when trying to decide on a suitable name for our store.  After many hours of brainstorming, a friend moaned “this is ridiculous.”  Heads turned immediately and surprised look abounded.  “That’s it, The Ridiculous Book Store.”  While that ended our evening of brainstorming, we still didn’t intend to use the name “Ridiculous” when we had to apply for our business license the next day.  While filling our the form, we were quite relieved to find that a business name was “optional.”  However, the courthouse clerk, not knowing what “optional” meant, refused to issue the license without a firm name.  She also told us that we would not be allowed to change the name later if we didn’t like our temporary choice.  Faced with a wall of bureaucratic runaround and ignorance, we felt it fitting to use “Ridiculous” as our name.  Thus The Ridiculous Book Store was born, launched, or begun - however you want to look at it.
